"One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure"

- William Feather

It' s January.

It's the 'slump' season for photographers, even here in San Luis Obispo.

I've finished up all my family sessions, even those who procrastinated. Weddings are booking for summer and fall but most want to wait till spring for their engagement shoot. So aside from a few maternity and newborn shoots here and there my days are relaxed.

While things are slow it's my time to rekindle my love of photography.

To play. Have fun. Adventure. Explore. Learn.

But it's also my time to put away photography and just be and live, without a camera in hand. To spend time feeding my soul before the spring comes and I lose myself in a whirlwind of sessions and other couples lives and love stories.

This morning I took some time for me. I sat on top of a mountain (ok, a hill...) at sunrise just to be still, quiet, and enjoy some peace and introspection.

It was perfect. I wish I could start every day this way (except for the realization that I'd actually have to wake up early) but at least I have photos to remember the serenity.
