Where Will You Take Your Life?

The other day I was leaving Cuesta campus after my marketing class (in which a group of awesome minds are helping create a marketing plan for Melissa Jean Photography! WOooo!) and I was struck by the absolute gorgeous day in front of me.

So I did what any photographer would do. I pulled over, took out my camera, laid on the ground, stood on my car and did other ridiculous things to capture the beauty in front of me.

And I'm so glad I did.

So now I'm posting the b-e-a-u-tiful shots and as I'm looking at them it's getting me thinking.

Life is what you make it.

Nothing is set.

Somehow that's the most mind blowing thing that I can never grasp, even though I tell myself all the time (yes -- I talk to myself, it's ok, you can do it too!).

I always fall back into a status quo. There's something in my mind that says in order to survive I must do the same thing tomorrow as I did yesterday.

And that's a big FAT lie!

Tomorrow can be anything you want. Your life can be anything you want. You just have to remember that.

A year ago I spontaneously decided to take a trip to Ireland. I booked the trip one month before hand. Did I have the funds? Not really. Did I make it work? Yes! And one year later I'm still doing just fine, but even better -- because I had that great adventure.

Stagnation is an easy trap to fall into. And such a sad one. No one should feel trapped in a day to day they don't want to be in.

And running your own business makes it all too easy.

I found something that worked. And it's been working for the past four years, but that doesn't mean things can't or shouldn't change.

Each day is an opportunity to decide what I want to do and where I want to take my life.

And with that in mind changes are coming to Melissa Jean Photography. Including a change of focus from mainly weddings to include other genres -- mainly glamour/boudoir and birth photography.

Will it work? I don't know. But there's no reason not to try!

Cheers to the adventure of life! Don't let life escape you. Don't wonder where life will take you -- decide where you want to take life!

And of course, take pretty pictures along the way!
