It's always a little strange to show up on a wedding day and not have met the bride and groom yet. But it happens. (The strangest time being when I showed up in Bali and THEN met my bride and groom, and if I can roll with that, I can roll with anything).
A large reason this happens is because the central coast is an amazing spot to do a destination wedding, or often it becomes a midway point between the NorCal and SoCal families.
And really, it's not an issue to not have met the bride and groom prior to the wedding day. But what does happen is you find out their story the day of the wedding.
Typically, I do engagement sessions with my couples and that gives us time to talk about all the normal pleasantries (work, family, where you're from, etc). Also during that time random things come out, about the couple and about me. For instance, one of my recent brides gave me Taco Bell gift cards as a wedding thank you because it happened to come up (maybe more than once!) that I have a bit of a Taco Bell obsession. But those engagement sessions also give me the chance to learn those little quirks and fun things about the couple and their family as well.
So instead, with Jessica and Jake, I got to learn these things throughout the course of the day. Things like how they met, how their relationship developed, the places they worked and the schools they went to.
Let me tell you, it makes for a very amazing wedding day when all of these details unfold through the course of one day, while they are surrounded by their family and friends.
It was such an amazing way to learn about Jessica and Jake and also their friends and family, and they all were so welcoming and friendly, so even though I hadn't met them before the day it seems like we just fell into place and got along so well (this is probably mostly because Jessica and Jake are truly easy going and fun to be around).
Here's a little preview of their wedding yesterday at the Garden at Peacock Farms, which was just the perfect setting for their day, with the lovely gardens for sitting and chatting, and the dance floor which was always full of people having fun!

They had some of the most amazing couples dancing during the generation dance. I just absolutely loved all the grandparents and how they dance together <3

It was truly a pleasure to capture their wedding and so fun to shoot at the Garden at Peacock Farms. It was such a beautiful setting for their day!
